More Mixed Bunch Love!!

I love the Mixed Bunch stamp set and matching blossom punch. Here are some more samples of cards I created using this set:

What an incredible stamp set and I love the DSP from the SAB mini!! The card base is soft suede layered with pool party and the Everyday Enchantment DSP. The DSP was trimmed using the Adorning Accents Edglits Die. My mixed bunch flower was punched from poppy parade with some lucky limeade organdy ribbon curled behind it. Love it!!

And another:

Here I used a lucky limeade card base with a layer of more paper from the Everyday Enchantment DSP. I need to get more of this DSP before it is all gone!! A strip of pool party was punched with the scallop border punch and tied with lucky limeade bakers twine. The pretty flower was stamped on very vanilla with lucky limeade. The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

March Club #1 Projects

So the beautiful weather continues and inspired me to use bright colours, butterflies and flowers.

This card was inspired and CASEd from the Sale-a-bration mini:

We used the adhesive sheets to adhere the DSP and card stock to some thin chipboard for the scallop square and the butterfly. The DSP used is the Everyday Enchantment package in the SAB mini. The stamp set also comes from the SAB mini and is called Fresh Vintage. Another SAB offering was the lucky limeade organdy ribbon and the printed designer brads. Other colours used are pool party, calypso coral, lucky limeade and very vanilla. We coloured the stamp with calypso coral and lucky limeade markers to make the background for the butterfly. Punches used were corner rounder, small circle, scallop oval, small oval and the dotted scallop ribbon border. I am so in love with the DSP in the SAB mini and I'm sure I will be placing an order before the end of March just so I can get some more before SAB is over!

Our next project uses one of my new favourite stamp sets, Mixed Bunch:

This card was inspired by Debbie Henderson. Check out Debbie's blog to see her card. Thank you Debbie for the inspiration. Some new product used are the Paper Doily Sizzlits Die and the Blossom punch that coordinates so wonderfully with the Mixed Bunch stamp set. The colours used are naturals white, night of navy, marina mist, always artichoke and Paisley Petals DSP. The sentiment comes from the Petite Pairs stamp set. We also created a matching envelope using the new Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. A piece of matching DSP was placed in the envelope to coordinate with the DSP used on the card.

March Club #2 projects

Really? It's March? It feels more like May here and I'm loving it. The temps are going to be getting warmer and almost summer like as the week progresses. I somehow have a feeling that winter isn't done with us yet which is all the more reason to enjoy this! Here are the projects we did for Stamp Club on Wednesday:

This is a quick and simple masculine birthday card:

This card uses a different fold, just for a little change up. The stamp set used here is Bring on the Cake. The DSP is from Well Worn, which is great for masculine cards. The colours are early espresso, cajun craze and very vanilla. A very simple card!

This next card could be used as a masculine card or a sympathy card:

I love this card - it looks like a painting. This image is made using the reflection technique. The image is from Lovely as a Tree and is coloured with old olive and chocolate chip markers then stamped on vanilla. The stamp is then coloured again and stamped on acetate. Flip the acetate over, line up the image with the first image and rub the acetate to transfer to the card stock. It gives the image such a water coloured look. Label collection framelits were used to cut the layers. A banner and some ribbon add the final touch.

We also completed a baby card. The sample of this card was included in my March 1st post for the blog hop.

All Occasion Card Class

Hello again. I hope you were able to follow the blog hop on Thursday. Wow - there are so many talented ladies out there! Today I wanted to post pics of three of the cards we made in the All Occasion Card Class from last weekend. We actually made six cards and I will post pics of the other cards later as I will be using them in Stamp Club this week.

Here's a clean and simple birthday card I will be using for a child's birthday:

This card uses the cheery and bright colours of tempting turquoise, real red, pumpkin pie and daffodil delight. The whisper white layer is embossed with the stripes embossing folder. The real red and daffodil delight strips are embossed with the polka dot folder. The happy birthday image is from the set Bring on the Cake and can be used for any age. Mini brads accent the corners that have been punched out using the ticket corner punch.

This next card uses some new techniques I have been trying out:

The colours used here are soft suede, pretty in pink and the Beau Chateau DSP. The DSP was trimmed using the new Adorning Accents edgelits die. The sentiment is very vanilla layered on pretty in pink that has been cut using the second smallest die from the Labels Collection framelit. This small piece was then embossed using the oval frame from the Designer Frames Textured Impressions. It was pretty fussy work trying to keep the embossing folder centered on such a small frame but the effect is sooo pretty! The tiny bow was created by tying a fork bow. I love doing these bows. The basic pearls have been coloured using a permanent marker and add a nice little touch to such a delicate looking card.

Finally, this card was made as a sympathy card but could be used for other occasions as well:

The idea for this card came from Pinterest (my newest addiction!!) and the origin was from the blog of http://wahinelei.blogspot.com/2010/09/sympathy-card.html I modified my version to be SUO (Stampin' Up! only). The colours used are are bashful blue, certainly celery and whisper white. It is hard to see in the picture but the centre of the card has been scored twice vertically with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. The right side has been embossed using the vintage wallpaper embossing folder. The flowers are from the set Love & Sympathy. We coloured the flowers using markers, stamped off on the grid paper once and then on to the card stock for a faded look. The second flower was stamped directly onto the card stock after colouring. The butterflies were made using the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings embosslit die. Some basic pearls accent the scored centre of the card.

Stylin' Stampin' Squad March Blog Hop

This month's themes are Spring/St. Patrick's Day/Baby. The colour challenge is garden green/bashful blue/tangerine tango. The stamp set challenge is Language of Friendship. My 3D project meets the St. Patrick's Day theme:

This is my punch art leprechaun with his lucky four leaf clover and pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The gold is actually some delicious Werthers hard caramels which is as close to gold as we get around here!! The bucket is made using three pillow boxes cut using the Big Shot and the pillow box die. The handle is made from strips of card stock in all of the colours of the rainbow. A little peep hole was cut using the smallest of the labels collection framelits. The various punches used to create the leprechaun will be listed in the supply list at the end of today's blog. A lucky four leaf clover is created using the smallest heart from the Heart to Heart punch.

For the baby card, I went with a non gender specific colour - pear pizzazz:

The adorable little baby feet came from the Baby Prints stamp set found in the Occasions Mini. I used a brayer to ink the polka dot embossing folder with pear pizzazz to colour the layer of naturals white card stock. This makes the polka dots pop against the inked paper.

This card meets the colour challenge and the stamp set challenge:

Once again this challenge was good for me as it definitely uses colours that are not my "go to" colours. The card base is crumb cake layered with garden green which has been punched with the scallop trim border punch. The crumb cake doily was cut using the Big Shot and the Perfect Pennants die. Tangerine Tango is punched from a sheet of designer series paper in the Paisley Petals pack using the 1 3/4" circle punch. Bashful blue is stamped with basic black using the Language of Friendship stamp set and then punched out with the Bird Builder and Boho Blossom punches. Two kinds of ribbon were used together - the crumb cake seam binding ribbon and the Chantilly crochet trim. The boho blossoms were each doubled up and the edges were distressed. The final additions were the basic pearls and one large basic pearl in the centre of the bow.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm obviously hooked on the Sweet Cake stamp set from the Occasions Mini. Here are two more cards using this set:

This card uses a melon mambo card base. The scallop framed oval was done in two parts. The center oval uses melon mambo DSP from the patterns pack and is framed with whisper white embossed with the polka dot embossing folder. A little bit of melon mambo ink was sponged on the embossed dots to make them pop a little. A tiny fork bow is made using the melon mambo scallop dots ribbon. The bling is brought out using the red glimmer paper and dazzling details for the icing.

This version uses rose red for a card base with a layer of rose red DSP from the patterns pack. Another layer of rose red and some whisper white frame the cupcake image. This was my first "successful" attempt at ruffling the rose red seam binding ribbon. I had tried this method before and gave up in frustration but this time it worked right from the get go for me. I love the look of the ruffled ribbon and will be doing it a lot more. Once again our bling is done using the red glimmer paper and the dazzling details.

These cards will be going to Ty's teachers. He helped by punching out the cherry and the heart for each card. I think I'm done with Valentine projects now. My poor hubby will probably get one of my projects for his card this year. I'm sure he won't mind. ;)

Stamp Club #1 - February projects

With Valentine's Day coming up, I needed to show my Club ladies some love. Here is the treat that I had for them on club night:

The Hershey nuggets were wrapped with regular copy paper stamped with Love from It's a Wrap Holidays in real read. I trim the regular paper to fit the nugget and then stamp. The regular paper wraps quite easily around the nugget. A piece of real red card stock behind the nuggets helps keep them in place and makes them show up a little better. The top note die was used to cut the retired Love Impressions Specialty DSP and makes a perfect topper for the cello bag. The final touch was the fork bow made with real red 5/8" satin ribbon.

This card is a CASE from Diary of Two Crafty Girls using the French Foliage stamp set. Check out their blog here

I love this blog and these ladies are a constant source of inspiration for me. My version is a little different as I do not have the Winter Post stamp set for the postage stamp. This card could be used for a Valentine card or for a wedding/anniversary card. The vintage feel is what really appealed to me. The cutter kit was used to rough up the edges of the naturals white layer. The french stamp uses early espresso and the water drops are done with crumb cake. Color spritz with early espresso adds even more of an aged look. The hearts are sponged with espresso as well. A trinket key would look so nice but I did not have enough for all of my club ladies so we used the key from the Artistic Etchings set and the phrase from You're a Gem.

This card uses some Occasions Mini goodies. I have posted other versions of this card before. The set used here is Sweet Cake and is so very versatile - it can be used for a Valentine card, birthday card or a thank you card. This time we used the vanilla scented embossing powder for the icing. My craft space sure smelled like a bake shop after eight ladies heat embossed their vanilla! The icing was coloured with a pretty in pink marker before embossing. We used a versa marker to apply the embossing powder where we wanted it. The embossed image has a shine to it after heating but we still added dazzling details to give it more bling. The layers were cut using the labels collection framelits. I am so hoping that we get more versions of the framelits in upcoming catalogues. The possibilities are endless!!

Our final card is a sympathy card using the Love & Sympathy stamp set:

I love the colours!! The card base is island indigo and the whisper white layer has a sponged area using pool party. The edges are sponged with island indigo. The image and phrase are stamped with island indigo as well. The basic pearl and whisper white 5/8" organza ribbon add a delicate touch to this card.

We recently started doing Club challenges. Our challenge for February was to come up with a male birthday card. This was definitely a challenge as I don't seem to have many masculine sets. In the end I had to resort to using a retired set called Plane & Simple in the same format as our sympathy card:

Note to self: invest in more masculine sets!!!

Club #2 February Projects

It is so hard to believe that January is over!! I usually find the winter months drag on but not this winter. It's true what they say - time flies when you're having fun! I hope you enjoyed the blog hop on Thursday. Check in again next month to see what the Stylin' Stampin crew have been up to.

Here are this months club projects for Club #2:

This card was inspired by a card on page 106 of the IBC. The card base is naturals white layered with melon mambo and old olive. The melon mambo is heat embossed with melon mambo embossing powder. I love the look of the tone on tone. The stamp set used is Just Believe and a smaller image from this set was heat embossed on whisper white using melon mambo embossing powder. This image was then punched out using the small square punch and placed behind a beveled windowpane. Old Olive taffeta ribbon is used to secure the windowpane. The melon mambo layer is trimmed with the scalloped trim border punch. Tiny basic pearls add a beautiful touch to the flowers. I will be giving this card to a former coworker of mine as she is in my thoughts and prayers and I wanted a beautiful card to reflect that.

This card uses the rolling marble technique. The colours used here are tempting turquoise, rich razzleberry and pumpkin pie. The stamp sets are Pennant Parade and Bring on the Cake. A rich razzleberry layer is trimmed using the scallop edge border punch and the pennants are punched out with the Petite Pennants Builder punch.

I had posted this project in this week's blog hop. It is a sour cream container filled with Hershey kisses. The container uses real red and whisper white card stock. The real red has a large heart punched out and is embossed with the Elegant Bouguet embossing folder. The ends are sealed with sticky strip and crimped with the crimper. The images are from PS I Love You (Occasions Mini/MDS) and Outlined Occasions (SAB). Love is coloured in using real red and regal rose markers and pierced with the piercer and mat. Real red and whisper white 1/8 taffeta ribbon attach the tags to the container.

February Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop

This is my first project:

This Valentines wreath started with a flat decorative heart that I found at Dollarama. It actually had two smaller hearts hanging inside. I removed the two smaller hearts and I'm sure I will find some other use for them. The rosettes (or medallions) were made by scoring the brights and subtles pattern pack DSP on the Simply Scored. Some of the rosettes have a lovely border created by using the Pinking Hearts Border punch. The stamps used were from P.S. I Love You found in the Occasions Mini printed using My Digital Studio. I love this program for the ability to access such a variety of stamp sets and how easy it is to select the colour and size of the images you want to use. My second project:

This card meets the February colour challenge of perfect plum, blushing bride and sahara sand. It also fills the Sale-a-bration and Valentines categories. The colour combination is definitely out of my comfort zone so this challenge was just what I needed. The card base is perfect plum layered with sahara sand DSP from the patterns pack. It is hard to see but the perfect plum card base has been scored on all four sides. The image is from Outlined Occasions (SAB) stamped on whisper white and cut using the labels collection framelit. This stamp set is perfect for paper piercing and you might be able to see where I pierced the central image. The pleated blushing bride ribbon makes a beautiful frame for the framelit! The hearts are cut from blushing bride and perfect plum card stock using the new Fashionable Hearts embosslits die.

A little Valentine's Day project:

This little sour cream container uses the PS I Love you set (Occasions Mini) and the Outlined Occasions set (SAB). Just a little something full of kisses for Valentines Day!

Retired but not forgotten

Here are a couple of projects using retired product:

This card uses the retired valentine stamp set Filled with Love and retired DSP Night and Day for the envelope. The card base is basic black layered with real red that has been embossed using the square lattice embossing folder. The envelope is cut using the scallop envelope die. The heart is from the Filled with Love set punched out with the large heart punch. A mini clothespin is prettied up with a heart punched from red shimmer paper using the small heart punch. The final touches are white bakers twine and rhinestones coloured with red sharpie. We will be using this card for my son's class as our Valentine project.

We made this clean and simple card in a Beginner Card Class. I had cut this paper for another project ages ago and never did use it. The card base is the retired green galore card stock, layered with certainly celery and whisper white. The stamp set used is Vintage Vogue stamped in certainly celery and pretty in pink. A very basic card which was a good place to start our class. The ladies impressed me so much with their talent and ability and I look forward to seeing them at future classes.

January Club #1 Projects

Hello everyone. I hope you enjoyed the blog hop last week. It's a great way to see a lot of projects and get some motivation! Make sure to check in the first week in February to see the next round.

It was so good to get back together with my Club ladies. I always end up with a severe case of crafter's burnout after the Christmas craft sale season. The little break between Christmas and the New Year does not involve any crafting at all. However, though the break is nice, it is so hard to get the crafting mojo going again. My Club ladies are my incentive to get it in gear and once I start again, it's all good. I love my Club ladies!

Here are the projects we worked on:

This card uses the I (Love) Love jumbo wheel. The card base is basic black which is embossed on the bottom using the heart folder from the new Textured Impressions Embossing Folders found in the Occasions Mini. The real red layer is punched using the Pinking Hearts Border punch. The wheel is inked with real red and run on whisper white. We coloured basic rhinestones using a permanent marker to add just a bit of bling to this card. This works well as a masculine card. I actually gave this card to my husband for our anniversary yesterday.

Our next project used the shaving cream technique. The card base is in marina mist, layered with whisper white embossed with the vintage wallpaper folder. The blushing bride layer and the shaving cream glossy layer are cut with the new Labels Collection framelits die. This die is so perfect for layering! Our shaving cream layer is done with marina mist and pretty in pink ink refills on glossy paper. The ribbon is the new pleated ribbon in blushing bride. The pearls were coloured using a permanent marker.

Our final project was a romantic layout. I always do one this time of year as it is our anniversary and Valentine's Day is coming up so it seems appropriate. This layout uses a crumb cake base. The very vanilla layer is stamped in early espresso using a stamp from Artistic Etchings. The envelope is cut using the Big Shot and the scallop envelope die. The luxurious paper used for the envelope comes from the Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper. Love this paper!! The image behind the envelope is stamped in early espresso using a stamp from the Notably Ornate set. The insert for the envelope is also from the Notably Ornate set and it has the date written on it. The hearts are silver glimmer paper sponged with more mustard and cajun craze and punched out with the large heart from the Heart to Heart Punch.

My next post will include the projects used in Club #2 and the Beginner Card Class that was held yesterday. It is so exciting to meet new stampers. They thoroughly impressed me with their craftiness!

I'm so excited to be involved in my first blog hop! You may have just come here from Erin's blog. This month's blog hop is focusing on the new Occasions Mini product and/or a thank you. My project uses the new Occasions Mini set Sweet Cake which I used for a thank you card:

The card base is chocolate chip with a layer of pretty in pink DSP from the pattern pack. The next chocolate chip and pretty in pink layers were cut using the new Framelits Labels Collection. The cupcake image is stamped on whisper white with chocolate chip ink. The stem of the cherry is wiped clean using a blender pen and then coloured with an old olive marker. This image is then trimmed out and popped up using dimensionals. The "You're So Sweet" saying is stamped using melon mambo. The cherry and heart are silver glimmer paper coloured with melon mambo reinker and an aqua painter. The icing on the cupcake has a beautiful shimmer thanks to the application of dazzling details. A pretty in pink button, white bakers twine and a thanks so much from the Tiny Tags set finishes off this card nicely.

Poor, poor neglected blog!! My blog definitely got neglected with all of the craziness of the Christmas season. Between preparing for and attending craft sales every weekend from mid November to right before Christmas and trying to prepare for Christmas at home, there was just no time to keep the blog up-to-date. Hopefully things will get back on track here soon.

There were times when I didn't even take pictures of the projects I was working on but I will post what I did manage to photograph. This is a pic of a gift card holder that proved to be a good seller at the craft sales:

This gift card holder uses one piece of paper folded in half and placed on the stocking die so that the crease is just below the top cutting mark of the stocking. The cuff, heel and toe are cut from the silver glimmer paper and the holly berry is cut from the stocking accessories die from always artichoke card stock and red glimmer paper. There is a pocket inside that holds the gift card.

Here are some of December's club projects:

This ornament is cut from red glimmer paper using the scallop circle die and a treat cup. The snowman is stamped on vellum using black stazon ink and coloured using markers. A small amount of mica flakes are placed in the treat cup before attaching the stamped vellum to the back of the cup. You don't want to use too much of the mica flakes or the snowman looks buried in the snow! Punch a circle out of the red glimmer scallop circle using the 1 3/4 circle punch. By putting the scallop circle in as far as it will go into the punch you end up punching out towards the bottom of the circle but that's okay as it gives you room to place a Merry Christmas banner on the top. A second red glimmer scallop circle is also punched out with the circle punch. These two scallop circles will be attached to each other but remember to attach a loop of ribbon at the top first so you have something to hang your ornament by. Having the back punched out allows the Christmas tree lights to shine through the ornament. The Merry Christmas banner was stamped on whisper white using basic black ink and cut out free hand (something I don't do well!). I loved how this ornament turned out!!

This Christmas card uses non traditional colours and the bling is a definite wow! The colours used here are basic black and tempting turquoise. The ornament is punched out of the silver glimmer paper using the ornament punch and then coloured using an aqua pen and tempting turquoise reinker. The whisper white layer is embossed using the perfect petals embossing folder. A piece of black 1/8 ribbon is placed on the whisper white layer before it is attached to the tempting turquoise layer. A piece of silver glimmer paper is punched out using the ribbon punch, placed on the coloured ornament and then the sides are trimmed. The ornament was popped up and a black ribbon bow was attached to the top of the ornament. The bling on this card is stunning! Love it!

Another club project was a post-it note holder. This item holds a mini gel pen and a post-it note pad inside. A simple project and a popular item at the craft sales.

I finally was able to play with some of my new product that will be coming out in the Occasions Mini starting January 4th:

This card also uses the coloured silver glimmer paper but this time I used baja breeze. Some of the products used are the baja breeze 3/8" pleated satin ribbon, the labels collection framelits die, the adorning accents edgelit die and the adorning accents textured impressions embossing folders. I am such a sucker for anything using the Big Shot so all of the wonderful new dies in this mini made me very happy!!

Today I need to prep for a kids class we are having tomorrow. A very smart Grandma booked a class so that the kids could have a little something to do during the Christmas break. I will post pics of our class projects after tomorrow.

More craft sale items

Hello again. I thought I would post a some more pics of my craft sale items.

This pretty banner is done in night of navy and whisper white. I stamped snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set using whisper white craft ink on night of navy card stock. Once dry, these pieces were attached to chipboard using the Stampin' Up! adhesive sheets. The adhesive sheets sure do make the big projects a lot easier. The chipboard pieces were then cut using the Big Shot and the scallop square die. The whisper white pieces use the scallop circle die and the letters were cut with the serif alphabet dies. Some retired night of navy ribbon keeps it all together and a couple of snowflakes and rhinestones add the finishing touches.

This is another Christmas wreath using rosettes made using the simply scored and the Holly Berry DSP in the mini. Some shimmery red paper and Holly Berry buttons make this wreath so pretty.

I was so happy with how these turned out. These are jumbo clothespins covered with DSP and prettied up with some scallop circle flowers and large brads. They work great as a photo holder or recipe card holder.

This little guy is my favourite so far this season. This snowman gift card holder is made using the top note die and some punched pieces. Love him!! This idea came from Marian Foerster and I thought he would make a great gift card holder. Thank you for sharing Marian!

Lastly, an altered picture frame. I loved last year's Christmas specialty paper for altering picture frames and wasn't sure how this year's selection would work. I love this one!! The idea for the angel came from Debbie Henderson. Check out her blog:

The colors for this frame are Wild Wasabi and very vanilla. The very vanilla velvet ribbon looks so nice on the frame.

November Club #1 Projects

We were very busy last night working on our three Club projects. I love the stocking die and have seen so many wonderful samples. My plan was to use the stocking die as a gift card holder:

My version incorporates some of the many ideas I found online. Thank you to all of those that inspired me! We used two stockings in real red, embossed with the snowburst embossing folder. It is important to remember to emboss one of the stockings in the reverse of the first so that you have a mirror image on the back. The same goes for cutting the cuff, heel and toe for the stocking. The glimmer polka dot paper comes from the Holly Berry Specialty Designer Paper in the holiday mini. The bottom half of the stockings are attached to each other using sticky strip and the top half uses dimensionals. The gift card sits on a piece of always artichoke which has a tab at the top and a candy cane from the stocking accessories die. By using dimensionals on the top half of the stockings it gives the card holder room to slide in and out. Some pretty vanilla velvet ribbon adds a pretty touch to the cuff. The holly leaves are cut from always artichoke using the stocking accessories die and the holly berries are punched from the red glimmer paper. Love it!!! This is a lot of work so I'm going to have to simplify my craft sale versions!!

We started the night with a photo/scrap layout:

I seem to frame my layouts more than actually scrapping them!! I like to decorate my entry way according to the seasons and, since we have had our first taste of snow, this seemed like an appropriate layout. The layout base is pacific point stamped with snowflakes in whisper white craft ink. The snow at the bottom is whisper white torn to give a ragged uneven edge, add some tombow and mica flakes and you have some glittery snow. The letters for snow were cut using the serif essentials alphabet dies and the big shot. We embossed the letters with the snowburst embossing folder and adhered to the pacific point. The picture is layered on night of navy. It was difficult to do but the snowflake is punched from the silver glimmer paper using the snowflake punch. Even with the backing taken off of the silver glimmer paper, it was still really difficult to punch. Proceed with caution if you try this at home!! :) A basic rhinestone in the centre of the snowflake is the finishing touch. Needless to say, after this project we were all sticky with glue and covered in mica flakes. That stuff is all over my house and seems to be totally resistant to my vacuum. Oh well, everything is glittery and pretty that way.

Finally, we had a simple card to end the projects:

This card uses cherry cobbler card stock, layered with brushed silver card stock. The stamp set used is from The Sounding Joy set in the holiday mini. The star image is stamped on whisper white using cherry cobbler ink. The joy image is stamped using versamark and embossed using the new pewter embossing powder from the holiday mini.

I had also done this card using night of navy for another stamping event:

These cards use the lovely 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon and some retired big buttons. I absolutely love these buttons and hope we get some more again soon!!

Remembrance Day

The poppy was punched from real red card stock using the petal builder punch. Four petals and a black circle complete the poppy.

Club #2 projects

This week I was excited to have my second club start up. We only did two projects as we had a little getting to know you session to start with. Here is the first project we did:

This Christmas card uses the Pennant Parade stamp set from the big catalogue. Our card base uses wild wasabi and the image is stamped on whisper white using wild wasabi, chocolate chip and daffodil delight for the star. The tree is stamped again on whisper white and punched out using the pennant builder punch. Popping the tree up with dimensionals over the first tree gives some great dimension. The image is layered on marina mist and finished off with a scallop border using early espresso cut with the tasteful trim die and the Big Shot. Some white bakers twine holds our merry tag. The card base is embossed with the Northern Flurry embossing folder. Final touches are the basic rhinestones.

Our final project uses the ornament from the Tags til Christmas set. The card base is real red with a very vanilla layer. The ornament is stamped in real red on whisper white and punched out using the ornament punch. Basic pearls dress up these ornaments. The lower layer is the shimmery striped paper from the Holly Berry specialty paper in the holiday mini. This is topped off with a real red satin ribbon tied in a knot. So pretty!

I hope my new club members had fun and hope that they are looking forward to meeting every month to do more exciting projects.

Estevan Bridal Show

Last weekend I attended the Estevan 1st Annual Ladies Night/Bridal Show. I had my Stampin' Up! booth with samples of handcrafted invitations, favours and decorations, in addition to some of my other projects. Here are pics of the items I had on display:

This was a coupon that I provided for the gift bags for the registered brides. It also serves as a sample of an invitation. The colour scheme I used for all of the bridal projects was soft suede and very vanilla. The stamp set used is Wedding Sweet on page 80 if the big catalogue. This set can be used for invitations, congratulations, save the date and thank yous. This particular sample has a belly band around the coupon that is embellished with a flower made from scallop circles. I love these flowers!!

This sample of an invitation uses a different fold and is tied closed with soft suede taffeta ribbon. Inside there is a the invitation info on the centre space and the side has a pocket for the RSVP card.

The main image from the Wedding Sweet set was used to stamp on a battery operated pillar candle. The outside has a wax coating so you are still able to heat set the image onto the candle. The shade for the luminary is cut from vellum using a template. A battery operated tea light sits inside a wine glass which is the base for the shade. Add some basic rhinestones to these items and you have some lovely lighting for your tables.

Last but not least are samples of the favours. The sour cream or twisty favour is embossed with the elegant lines embossing folder. An oval is punched out at the bottom of the favour and covered with window sheet. This allows you to display the treats inside. Basic pearls add a nice touch to this favour. The match box favour uses specialty paper from the Beau Chateau paper pack. A pretty in pink ribbon is so pretty with this paper. Inside are Hershey nuggets wrapped with the Mr. and Mrs. wrap from the It's a Wrap Occasions set. Finally, a simple thank you note card is stamped with the smaller image and thank you from the Wedding Sweet set. The eyelet border punch, basic pearls and soft suede ribbon make this simple card look quite elegant.

In addition to the excitement of the Bridal Show, I was so excited to have another club start this past week. The majority of the members are new stampers and I can't wait to share the fun of stamping with them. I will post our club projects next. Thanks for stopping by.

October Club Projects

This month's Club had such a different atmosphere. We were missing half of the group so it felt really different. I picked some projects to do that work better with a smaller group and the ladies did a great job.

Our first project was a Christmas sour cream or twist favour:

This project was cased from the September Stampin' Success magazine. The container is wild wasabi embossed with the square lattice embossing folder. The ends are crimped - had to blow the dust off the crimper for this project! A strip of fabric from the Holly Berry Bouquet pack is tied in a knot around the favour. This is topped off with a real red button from the Holly Berry Bouquet designer buttons, some linen thread and a tag from the Tags til Christmas set. These favours would work for gift giving, party favours and place settings for dinner parties. Quick and easy and oh so cute!

Our second project uses my new favourite tool, the Simply Scored Scoring Tool:

These ornaments were cased from Laura Leuenberger and modified by me for Club. The rosette (medallion, lollie) uses paper from the Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty Designer Series Paper, shaker frames, red glimmer paper and mica flakes. These would make cute ornaments or decorations for gift wrapping.

Our last project was a quick and simple Christmas card:

Halloween Wreath Version #3

This is the third and final version of the Halloween wreaths I have been making. I love the new Simply Scored and it comes in so handy for making the medallions (rosettes, lollies) for these wreaths. This last wreath was supposed to go to Ty's teacher but he helped me make it and insists we keep it at home to enjoy. I guess I will just have to give the teacher a Christmas wreath later on!

My next post will showcase the projects we made in Club last week. One of the projects also used the Simply Scored medallion! I'm hooked!

Audrey's Workshop

I had such a great time at Audrey's workshop on Wednesday. Workshops are a great opportunity to share my obsession, I mean joy, of crafting with others. Three of the guests were first time stampers and they did so well and everyone had a lot of fun. Audrey was a lovely hostess and I thank her for introducing me to such wonderful ladies. I demonstrated the new scoreboard that was introduced in the Holiday Mini. I briefly described how medallions (some call rosettes or lollies) were made using the scoreboard. After the demonstration I presented Audrey with the project I had made for her:

This Halloween Wreath has a styrofoam base that is wrapped in black crepe paper. The medallions are made out of basic black card stock and Halloween DSP from last year that has since retired. The stamped images are from the On a Limb set in this Holiday Mini. The colour combinations are black, white, pumpkin pie, old olive and concord crush. I am busy making a few more of these wreaths for Halloween and then I will be moving on to making the Christmas version.

As part of the workshop we did two make and takes. Here is the first one:

This Christmas card has a cherry cobbler base and a layer of whisper white embossed with the new snow burst embossing folder. The stocking is from the Stitched Stockings stamp set and is stamped on whisper white with cherry cobbler. It was then punched out using the stocking builder punch. The cuff, heel and toe of the stocking were punched out of the new silver glitter paper using the stocking builder punch also. A fancy bow is made using the new cherry cobbler quilted ribbon. With the addition of some rhinestones to the stockings and the bow, there is some pretty awesome bling on this card. Love it!!!

The last card we made was a birthday card:

The ladies did so well with the builder punch on the first card that they were pros by the time this card came around. The base is melon mambo with a whisper white layer embossed with the polka dot embossing folder. Some lovely melon mambo scalloped dotted ribbon was tied in a knot above the happy birthday stamped in old olive. The scallop circle base is in old olive cut with the Big Shot and the perfect pennants die. Another layer of whisper white embossed with the polka dot embossing folder makes the background for the cupcake. The cupcake base is stamped in chocolate chip on whisper white and punched out using the cupcake builder punch. The topping is punched out of melon mambo with some chocolate chip sprinkles. Voila, a cute happy birthday card.

In addition to working on Halloween wreaths, I need to prepare for Club this week. Club projects will be posted later in the week.

World Card Making Day

Whew - it's been a while since I posted!! I have been busy working on various projects that I can't post as they are for upcoming events. This Saturday was World Card Making Day. I should have hosted an event for this special occasion but I had a big project to work on instead. However, it did seem appropriate to spend the weekend working on a card that was meant to represent multiculturalism. I had received a special order to have 50 thank you cards done for the sponsors of a recent multicultural event. It was the second annual Collage Culture Festival and I attended as a vendor for the second year in a row. This is a terrific opportunity to experience the various cultures of the people that live in our community. There are display booths, food vendors and entertainment. I love this event and had a perfect location this year that allowed me to practically have a front row seat by the stage. I was honoured to be asked to do the thank you cards. Here's a pic:

This is a 4 x 4 card using Pacific Point card stock. The dove and the world image are from Peaceful Season from last year's holiday mini and has since retired. The olive branch was punched from Old Olive using the branch from the Bird Builder punch. All of this was placed on a piece of whisper white punched using the 2 1/2" circle punch. The thank you sentiment is from the Just Believe set and is stamped using basic black on whisper white and punched with the Modern Label punch. It does seem appropriate for World Card Making Day don't you think?

I am looking forward to posting one of my latest projects later this week. It is an item that I will be presenting as a hostess gift for a workshop on Wednesday. I may also post one or two of the projects that we will be doing for a make and take.

September Stamp Club

I am so happy that Stamp Club has started up again and that I get to see my club ladies regularly. The three projects we worked on all showcased product from the new Holiday Mini:

This project uses the Kraft Gift Box on Page 15 of the mini. We decorated the box using layers of early espresso and First Edition Specialty DSP stamped with the leaves from the French Foliage stamp set. The colours used for the leaves were cajun craze, old olive and more mustard. I absolutely adore the Gently Falling stamp set in the mini but tried to use some restraint and didn't purchase it knowing I already had French Foliage. It's so hard using restraint!!! I have seen so many beautiful samples using Gently Falling and it would definitely be a good purchase. The top of the box is decorated with the same layers but we added a beautiful scallop circle of early espresso cut with the Big Shot and the Perfect Pennants die. The vintage flower is made from six scallop circles of the First Edition DSP and a vintage brad. Love those brads!!

Our next project uses the Always Grateful stamp set from the new Mini. I have been using this set a lot as it is perfect for thank you cards and for Thanksgiving cards. The image was stamped on water colour paper using basic black ink and then coloured using a blender pen and pear pizzazz, more mustard and soft suede ink. The image was then punched out using the 2 1/2" circle punch and layered on a soft suede circle cut using the Big Shot and the 3" circle die. The card base is soft suede and the layer of pear pizzazz card stock is embossed using the Big Shot and the new houndstooth embossing folder. Grateful is stamped on very vanilla card stock using soft suede and punched out with the oval punch and layered on a piece of soft suede punched with the decorative label punch. The ribbon is very vanilla seam binding.

Our last project was done in anticipation of Halloween. This project is cased from Page 11 of the Mini using the new cellophane bags. I used the Out on a Limb stamp set instead of the Howl-o-ween Creeps set and loved the results. There are 50 of the bags in one package for $3.25. This is a great deal for making up those special Halloween treats.

Always Thankful

I think I have made the last thank you card for another get well gift received by my husband. The Always Thankful set in the Holiday Mini was the perfect set for some of my thank you cards and it works well for Thanksgiving cards. Here is a card made using the pear stamp in the set:

Appropriately the layered card stock used is the pear pizzazz from last year's in colours. The base is soft suede card stock. The image is stamped with basic black on water colour paper and coloured in using a blender pen and pear pizzazz ink and soft suede ink. I also added a little more mustard to give some dimension to the pears. I really like the combination of soft suede with the pear pizzazz. Grateful was stamped on very vanilla card stock and accented with a glimmer brad and lace ribbon. The pear pizzazz layer was embossed using the Big Shot and the new stripes embossing folder. I am seriously addicted to embossing folders. It seems that no card is complete unless at least one layer has been embossed!!

That's all I have for now. The weekend will be busy as I will be a vendor at the Collage Culture Festival on Saturday and Sunday. I have a booth near the stage so I will be able to take in all of the entertainment. It's going to be a good time!! Next week is our first night of Stamp Club so I will post our club projects after Wednesday's meeting.

More thanks

My husband is doing so well after his surgery. It is hard to believe it has almost been a month since the operation. He is back to driving again so he is much happier now that he can get out of the house and have some freedom!! I'm happier now also as things are starting to settle back into a routine. Some wonderful friends came by and brought a beautiful fruit basket. Here is the thank you card I made for them:

This card uses a basic black card stock base with layers of lucky limeade, basic black and whisper white. The new lucky limeade colour is really starting to grow on me and pairing it with black is my fave combination. The lucky limeade layers were embossed using the Big Shot and the vintage wallpaper folder. The stamp set used is Clearly for You. The small frame is cut using the new die - Peekaboo Frames - which is now available in the Holiday Mini. I love these frames and I can tell they will be used in a lot of projects. A "thanks so much" sentiment from the Tiny Tags set is stamped inside the small square frame. There are soooo many frames on this die, large and small. The final touch is to add the three basic rhinestones. Loves me some bling!!

Kards for Kids continued

So I managed to get some more cards done for the Kards for Kids program. All Halloween cards except for one Thanksgiving card:

I love this card!!! It uses the Beware of Pirates set that retired this year. I just had to order this one as my son is a big fan of Jack from the Pirates of the Caribbean. He had to ask me if that was Jack on this card.

This card uses the Haunted Forest a la carte stamp from the upcoming Holiday Mini. A la carte stamps are a great way to get a special occasion stamp. Some sponging gives this card the various shades of colour.

This two cards were CASEd from the upcoming Holiday mini and use the Out on a Limb stamp set. Such a cute set and very versatile.

This Thanksgiving card is made using the French Foliage stamp set. Love the fall colours.

Finally, I prepared a couple of altered mini notebooks for the parents to use for medical information, if needed. These notebooks use the Faith in Nature hostess set. One of my favourite hostess sets in the new catalogue.

All of these projects presented a challenge for me in that I was not able to use embellishments of any kind. You all know how much I like my bling so this was really hard!! Challenges are good though and forced me to come up with other ways to add texture and interest to the cards. Now I need to work on some fall home decor to decorate my entrance way. After that, I really need to start working on projects for the local Farmer's Market and upcoming craft shows. Hopefully once school starts I can dedicate more time to my crafting. I'm excited to get working on my crafts but extremely sad that summer is over.

I managed to get another thank you card done today. This card is for my wonderful neighbour who looked after our house and yard while we were away:

This card incorporates some new product from the new catalogue and from the upcoming holiday mini. The card base is crumb cake which is embossed with a new embossing folder, Houndstooth. The stamp set used is Always Thankful which will be available in the holiday mini starting September 1st. The wheat stalks and bucket were stamped on water colour paper with soft suede ink and colored in with a blender pen using soft suede and daffodil delight. The corners were accentuated with the new mini brads. These brads are tiny but oh so cute!! Grateful was stamped on daffodil delight card stock using soft suede ink and then punched out with the decorative label punch.

Here is another card that I made up before the surgery and gave out to some of the wonderful nursing staff:

Everyone we dealt with at the hospital was so kind and understanding. It was important to me to thank the people that went out of their way to make things easier for us. This card uses the stamp set from Touch of Kindness found in the summer mini. This mini is only valid until August 31st. The image was also stamped on water colour paper and coloured with a blender pen. Crystal Effects was used to highlight the water drops and the flower in the sentiment. The sentiment comes from the mini hostess set, Swirls and Curls Verses.

I think I may be done with thank you cards for now. It's time to get working on some Thanksgiving and Halloween cards for the Kards for Kids program. I will post pics as soon as I get a few done. Thanks for stopping by.

Thankful for family and friends

There are tough times that really make you appreciate your family and friends. My husband recently had scheduled major surgery. The surgery went well, thank you God, and he is making a speedy recovery. In addition to worrying about my husband, I have a six year old son that I needed to consider as well. My wonderful niece and nephew stayed with me during a stressful time to help look after my son and they did an incredible job of distracting him from missing his Daddy too much. My wonderful sister-in-law sat with me through the hours of surgery and recovery. It was my belief that I wanted to be alone at this time but it turns out I really needed her there with me to comfort me and keep me company. Of course, even though I thanked them over and over again, I still needed to make some cards to express my gratitude:

This card is for my SIL and uses the My Friend stamp set. The card base is basic black and the layer is pacific point. Dazzling details works perfectly in the rain drops. The flowers are stamped tone on tone using pacific point on pacific point.

This is the card I made for my niece and nephew. This card uses the Language of Friendship stamp set and the bird builder punch. The card base is soft suede, the bird and flowers are stamped with soft suede on baja breeze and layered on a vanilla scallop circle cut with the Big Shot and the large scallop circle die. A layer of soft suede pattern DSP edged with baja breeze trimmed with the ribbon punch holds some baja breeze seam binding ribbon. The final touch was the ivy from the Vintage Vogue stamp set stamped with soft suede. The basic pearls add a nice soft touch to the flowers.

You're Never More than a Thought Away

Yaaay - my new goodies arrived. I found a little bit of time to work on a card using some of the new product from the new catalogue. Here's a pic:

This card uses the new in colours Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade. The colour combination is suggested in the Colour Coach. I have tried this combination a couple of times now and it is slowly growing on me. The Lucky Limeade layer is double embossed using two of the new embossing folders. The bottom half is embossed with the new Stripes folder and the top half uses the oval from the Designer Frames folders. The Designer Frames actually has two different frames to choose from and I have to say that this is my favourite new embossing folder!! There is so much you can do with these frames and I look forward to posting more samples using them. I added some flowers using the Boho Blossoms punch that I finally got around to ordering. The inside of the Blossoms are punched from Blushing Bride using one of the punches from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. The small butterflies are cut and embossed using the Beautiful Wings embosslit die. Teeny tiny pearls add the nicest touch to the flowers and the butterflies. Another nice touch is the Wisteria Wonder 3/8" ruffled ribbon. I love the look of this ribbon. Here is the supply list of the items used today:

Happy I Do Day

I have been busy making cards that were left from packets used in club and classes. I always cut extra in case someone needs another one or if I get unexpected guests. It works out in the end as I assemble the remaining sets and sell them at the local Farmer's Market. So now, although my crafting space is a little neater, I don't have much new to show you today. Here is something I did manage to create:

This card is done with a black card base with a layer of Brushed Silver. The Brushed Silver was embossed using the Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped from the Word Play set in black ink on whisper white card stock and layered on a black scallop circle. A pretty little rhinestone adds a bit of bling to the ring!! The ribbon is basic black taffeta with a clear circle rhinestone brad in the center.

I am eagerly waiting for a parcel to arrive either Monday or Tuesday. It contains some great new product from the new catalogue. I was able to receive these items free after hosting an Open House and receiving orders from the lovely ladies that attended. The new hostess program is absolutely wonderful!! It gives you more flexibility to spend your hostess benefits and qualifying workshops allow you to purchase items at 50% off. Love it!!!

Recovering from a wonderful Open House

Hello everyone. It has been a wonderfully busy time around here. I have been trying to find a balance between spending time with my son and preparing for my New Catalogue Open House. We had been going to the pool and then coming home so that I could get a little work done. It was so worth it as my Open House was a success and I had a blast. Hopefully the ladies did too!! Everyone who attended received a new catalogue, a post-it-note holder and a bookmark. These items were made with the new in colour paper. Here's a pic:

There were draws for booking, ordering, bringing a friend and door prizes. I also offered my retired stuff free with an equivalent purchase from the new catalogue. We worked on three projects:

This birthday card uses the returning two step stamp set, Awash with Flowers, and the new colours Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade. The Wisteria Wonder coordinates perfectly with Concord Crush. I wasn't sure about this colour combination but it's growing on me.

All in all, it was an exciting evening and I enjoyed seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones. I thank everyone for coming out and making this night a success.

Yaaay - The New Catalogue is here!!!

It's July 1st and Canada Day but it get's even better - the new catalogue takes effect today. I'm so thrilled with all of the great new products found in the new catty and the catalogue itself is a work of art. I will be having a New Catalogue Open House on Wednesday, July 13th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. There will be samples of projects made using the new products and free make and takes. Those attending can enter their names for various draws and win some fun prizes. I can hardly wait!!

Sneak peek projects

The new catalogue will come into effect on July 1st. I have been having fun playing with some new items I was able to pre-order as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Here's a sneak peek:

This cute little Baby Bear card uses marina mist and whisper white card stock. The beautiful scallop behind the bear is cut using the Big Shot and a new die, Perfect Pennants. The large pennants on the gift bag are also cut from this die. The smaller pennants are from a new punch, Petite Pennants Builder. I'm loving the new stuff!! And, it gets better, there is a coordinating stamp set to go with the new punch. We will be using these new items, with the new In Colours, at my New Catalogue Open House on July 13th. Come on by and check it out!

Well that's all I have for now. I have been incredibly busy completing special orders and trying to restock my items that I sell at the Farmer's Market. This past Saturday was one of my best days ever as everyone was buying the end of the year teacher gifts. Despite the craziness, I managed to get our teacher gift done too. It would be just like me to forget about Ty's teacher but I fooled myself and actually had my act together for a change. :)

Another garden stake and some picture frames

As part of June's Stamp Club we created garden stakes out of aluminum flashing. This week I created a different stake using the clear flower die that will be retiring June 30th. Here's the pretty flower with the pretty butterfly:

I just love these garden stakes!! It was a wonderful project to work on with my crafty nephew last week. He made one for his grandmother who is also very crafty. I'm sure she loved the care he put into it.

The other projects I have been working on are some altered picture frames:

Just a little something from the Tooth Fairy!

Not sure how these turned out since I have been working on them since 2:00 am this morning!! This insomnia is kicking my butt but at least I'm getting my projects done. :)

Here are the tooth fairy tins I have been working on to sell at the Farmer's Market:

It's a little hard to see in the picture but I have added dazzling diamonds for some special fairy dust. The cute little Tooth Fairy stamp is on the retiring list and will not be available after June 30th. Hopefully people will like them and they will be in demand cause I have a lot of these little favour tins to use up. I will probably decorate some more to show how they could be used for wedding favours.

Well now that I have been up most of the night, it's almost time to get ready to go to the Farmer's Market. Here's hoping that the sun will shine and the wind won't blow so that I can enjoy my day!

June Club projects

Last night was the bonus club night I put on for my club ladies. I wanted to treat them to a class where they were not required to place an order, just come work on some projects and have a good visit. Pure selfishness on my part as I can't stand going the rest of the summer without seeing my club ladies. Hopefully I will see them again at my Open House on the 29th and maybe at some of the classes I have scheduled over the summer.

Here are the projects we worked on last night:

This is a garden stake cut from aluminum flashing using the Big Shot. Credit for this idea goes to the talented Laura Haffke. The flashing is embossed first using the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, cut out using the large scallop circle die. The butterfly is embossed first using the polka dot embossing folder and then cut out using the smallest butterfly on the Beautiful Butterflies die. Love it!!

This next project was from an idea in the demo's Stampin' Success magazine:

This coaster is a cute and easy project that requires no stamping at all!! It is a matter of making layers - the bottom layer is your cork or chipboard, a layer of Stampin' Up! adhesive sheet, a layer of Designer Series paper of your choice, another layer of adhesive sheet and top it off with a window sheet. Once the layers are completed, it is run through the Big Shot using the 3.5 circle die. A set of these would make a lovely gift.

Our final project took a little more time and actually involved a little bit of stamping:

This project uses the skinny tins that I found on the Stampin' Up! clearance rack ages ago. They are no longer available on the Clearance Rack but I would recommend checking in on a regular basis as you never know what might show up on there. The front of the tin is decorated using the beautiful Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper that will be coming out in the new catalogue. The flower is one of my new favourite dies - Fun Flowers. Inside the tin are 3 x 3 thank you note cards and mini envelopes. I am using this for my son's teacher for an end of the year thank you gift.

It was another fun night and I look forward to club starting up again in the fall.

Card Buffet Projects

I have a card buffet scheduled for Friday, May 27th at 7:00 pm. Here are five projects that my registered guests can chose from. Each of the projects will be numbered and my guests must chose which cards they want to make and how many of each. Please refer to the project number when you respond. Responses are required by Friday, May 20th. I will post an additional five choices tomorrow in case these five do not pique your interest!! :) Please keep in mind that the salutations for the majority of these cards can be changed to match any occasion. Please also note that the final versions of these cards may change, ie: colour of the card or a change in a border punch in order to facilitate the use of tools among all of the guests.

PROJECT #1:

Level of difficulty (1=easy - 5=difficult) 2

This card requires the cakes to be colored and crystal effects applied to the toppings. I would recommend no more than two of this card per person as the coloring is time consuming. This card has been popular at my sales so it will make a great birthday card to give away.

PROJECT #2:

Level of difficulty: 1

This card incorporates basic stamping and punching using the scallop border punch. The color spritzer is also used on this card.

PROJECT #3:

Level of difficulty: 1

This is a no layer card that uses the masking technique and sponging. Great masculine card.

PROJECT #4:

Level of difficulty: 1

Simple black and white. Great for a sympathy card.

PROJECT #5:

Level of difficulty: 3

Such a pretty card. This card will require the use of the Big Shot with the embossing folder and the floral fusion sizzlit die.

Hmmm, looks like I have to do this again!!

Not too happy this morning!!! Looks like my last blog post has disappeared. Blogger was having some problems and it looks like it affected my blog page. Frustrating since I have trouble posting as it is and then this happens. Hopefully this is the one and only time it happens.

So anyway... sorry for my little hissy fit. I will re-post the pictures from this week's club.

This card uses the classic Lovely as a Tree stamp set and the reflection technique:

The ladies had a choice of making a masculine birthday card or a sympathy card. I love this technique as it's super easy and gives a dramatic effect.

Our next card was another masculine card using all new product from the Summer Mini:

The stamp set used here was The Open Sea, the DSP is Nautical Expedition and the new Early Espresso Baker's Twine. Love it!!!

Our last card was definitely a girly card and incorporated the inlaid embossing technique:

May Card Club

Bad, bad blogger!!! I have been slipping on keeping my blog updated and I apologize for that. It has been busier than usual so that is my excuse. I'm hoping that things slow down soon so that I can find time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather, if we ever get any!

Last night was the last official stamp club meeting. I enjoy seeing my club ladies every month and I know that I will miss them over the summer months. In order to drag things out a little bit, I have offered them a bonus club night in June where they will not have to place an order, just come, stamp and have fun. Maybe I can entice them to come again in July for the new catty open house.

I was excited to show the ladies some new techniques last night. This card uses the reflection technique with the classic Lovely as a Tree:

This set works perfectly for those hard to make masculine cards and it also works well as a sympathy card. The technique is really quite easy and gives dramatic results.

Our second card was also another masculine card, perfect for father's day or another masculine birthday:

I love this card!! This card uses all new product from the Summer Mini. The stamp set is The Open Sea, the DSP is Nautical Expedition and the Early Espresso Baker's Twine. Love it, love it, love it!! The Nautical Expedition paper is absolutely gorgeous and the colours and the patterns are perfect with the nautical sets.

Our last card used the inlaid embossing technique and the new triple layer punch, Blossom Bouquet:

This card was CASEd from Darlene McCallum. Check out her blog: http://dreamingaboutrubberstamps.com/summer-mini-sneak-peek-blossom-bouquet-triple-layer-punch. I modified my version a little bit. This punch coordinates well with the Bold Blossom stamp set from the mini. This is a very easy technique that gives your card a very different look. Kinda neat huh?

Darn Blizzard!!

I know it's Saskatchewan and we have to expect that the weather will be a little wacky but really, after the winter we have had, another blizzard on April 30th!!! The worst one of the year too. Because of this blizzard, I was unable to attend the Carnduff Craft Show that I had been preparing for. Oh well, now I have plenty of product to start the Farmer's Market and for the Trade Show on the 14th. Here are some of the cards I had made:

I changed mine up just a little, less rhinestones (which is totally unlike me) but I added crystal effects to the toppings of the cakes to give them some shine and dimension.

Birthday cards for kids

April Stamp Club

I had a terrible time coming up with projects for stamp club this month. A project I had in mind simply would not come together and at the last minute I was desperately searching Splitcoast for ideas. Here is the card that we made using the Strength & Hope stamp set:

This project was cased from Jen Sannes on Splitcoast. Check out her blog: http://www.simpleandsincere.com/2011/04/strength-hope-swap.html. I modified my project just a little bit but thank Jen for her inspiration.

Another project for club was cased straight out of the Occasions Mini!!! The Idea Book and Catalogue and the minis are definitely great sources for ideas as well. I had ordered the beveled windowpanes from the Occasions Mini months ago and had been dying to use them. It seemed like it was now or never as the mini will be done the end of April. However, I am very excited to see that the windowpanes are on the mini carry over list!!! This is the card we made using the windowpanes:

I absolutely love this card. The card base uses Crumb Cake card stock embossed with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. The layer is from the neutrals patterns stack with a trim of Pacific Point on the bottom. The ribbon is the Pear Pizzazz seam binding ribbon and the stamp set used is Clearly for You.

Lastly we made a Mother's Day card using the faux mother of pearl technique. Frost White shimmer paint is applied to shimmery white card stock using a crumpled up ball of cling wrap dipped in the paint. These butterflies were cut using the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die. After the paint dried, we stamped the flowers from Elements of Style using black stazon and colored them using rose red and old olive markers. Burnishing the butterflies with a cloth removes the ink from the pearl and gives it some shine. The card base uses Rose Red card stock, a layer of Springtime Vintage DSP and another strip of Rose Red trimmed with the scallop border punch. The lovely ribbon is Rose Red seam binding ribbon. Here is the card we made in class:

I felt that the top part of the card was too plain so I stamped the vine from the Elements of Style using Rose Red ink onto the Rose Red card stock. Adding another pearl to the card was also important!!

Mommy and Me Easter Class

The card base used the Naturals White card stock and the grass and ribbon are Pear Pizzazz. The eggs are from the Easter Blossoms in the Occasions Mini, stamped in versamark on Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Pale Plum card stock and heat embossed using Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Our tired little chick was punched from So Saffron using the scallop oval punch and sponged around the edges.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon and I look forward to my next Mommy and Me class.

Fundraiser projects

It feels so satisfying to cross off all those items on my to do list. My last project this week was to make items to donate to a local fundraiser. I have created two baskets, although I'm not sure if the one basket is worth giving as it seems kind of blah.

Here is the basket I am donating for sure:

This basket contains a keepsake box that holds 10 handcrafted cards with envelopes, a stamped candle, a bookmark and a sticky note holder with pen. Here are some individual pictures of these items:

It was so much fun putting these items together. The keepsake box is so perfect to give as a gift filled with cards. These items use my current favourite stamp set - Bliss - from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. Today is the last day to earn SAB goodies so I made sure to get one last order in so that I could earn another Bliss set to give away at some point.

The other basked contained stamped tile items - a tea pot trivet and two coasters. I made a card to match as well. Somehow this basket seems so bland compared to the first one:

Farewell cards

It has been a little while since my last post but life has been incredibly hectic again. This week I needed to work on some farewell cards. The office I am working in is closing as the partners are retiring and the support staff are moving on. Here is the card I made for the ladies I work with:

This card incorporates a bookmark as shown in the second picture. The card base is Soft Suede with a layer of Elegant Soiree DSP and a scallop border of Baja Breeze. The background stamp is from the SAB set, Bliss, which I absolutely love!! The front sentiment is Very Vanilla cut using the scallop rectangle clearlit stamped with a phrase from You're a Gem set and the flower from Bliss. This flower was inked using the rock 'n roll technique with Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze. The bookmark was cut using the Big Shot and the two tags die. I cover pieces of cardboard front and back with DSP (Elegant Soiree was used here) using a glue stick, let it dry and then run through the Big Shot. The ribbon is the Baja Breeze seam binding and the butterflies are cut from Baja Breeze using the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings embosslit. Of course, no project is complete without the addition of some basic pearls.

This is the card I made for one of the partners who is an avid history buff and a lover of planes:

This card uses the set Plane & Simple from the Occasions Mini. Very vintage and very versatile for those hard to make masculine cards. The card base is Chocolate Chip with a layer of DSP from the neutrals pattern pack trimmed with some retired cord.

Blissful moments

Hello everyone. Well, it is almost the end of another busy week. The highlight of my week was Stamp Club on Wednesday. I sure do look forward to seeing my ladies. This week we worked on a 12 x 12 scrap page. Planning a scrap page is still stretching my comfort zone but this layout came to me when I thought of the Bliss stamp set:

I told the ladies to bring two pictures of what they felt captured blissful moments. It is so neat to see what everyone's version of bliss is. Of course, chocolate seems to be a favourite amongst most of us. This layout used the Bliss and Notes & Details stamp sets. The Notes & Details set is perfect for scrapping. The colours used on this page were Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla and Always Artichoke. My favourite model was kind enough to provide the action shots. :)

Here are two cards that we did for Club, in addition to the scrap page:

The Easter card was CASED from Kimberly Van Diepen who happens to be totally awesome. Check out her site: http://stampinbythesea.com/ I am her number one fan. This card uses the emboss resist technique. Kim's version used the Bliss stamp. The only thing I changed was to use the Easter Blossoms set instead. The card base is Baja Breeze, the top note is Whisper White sponged with Baja Breeze. The background stamp is En Francais in Crumb Cake. The embellishments are Crumb Cake seam binding ribbon and a basic pearl.

Our last card was quick and simple and would make a good masculine birthday card. This card uses the Bring on the Cake stamp set stamped on Very Vanilla using Soft Suede. This was then punched out with the 2 1/2" circle punch, sponged with Soft Suede then layered on Gold Shimmer paper. The card base is Soft Suede with a layer of Soft Suede patterns paper from the Neutral Patterns Stack and a strip of Very Vanilla run through the crimper. (The crimper is making it's way back!!! Yay) We touched up the top of the card by paper piercing the corners using the mat pack and the paper piercer. Simple!!!

Still going ....

Well, after being up most of the night, I did squeak in a little nap this afternoon. I thought it was time to rest my eyes when I started working with polka dot paper and the polka dots kept swimming before my eyes. Here is the card that I finished before my little siesta:

This card uses a Chocolate Chip card base with a Whisper White layer that has been run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The circle is punched from Pretty in Pink using the 2 1/2" circle punch with edges sponged with Rose Red. The image is stamped using the Create a Cupcake set and punched with the cupcake punch. Between the stamp set and the cupcake punch, options are endless and it doesn't even need to be a cupcake. I have seen some beautiful examples and will have to CASE some soon. The cupcake circle was spritzed with shimmer mist and popped up on dimensionals. The bottom layer incorporated some expired product (sorry!). Chocolate chip taffeta ribbon prettied up the layer of Love Patterns DSP which was layered on chocolate chip punched using the scallop border punch.

Baja bender

In my last post I mentioned I had been dreaming stamping dreams that seemed to focus on Baja Breeze glass glitter and Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon. Well tonight, or this morning I guess it is now, I woke up at 1:49 am and could not go back to sleep. Some of my best ideas for projects seem to come to me at night and that seemed to be what happened this time. Of course, with all of the excitement of these creative ideas, I could not go back to sleep. So finally at 2:20 am I crept down to my stamping space and went on a BENDER - a Baja Breeze Bender!! For this card I only used the Baja Breeze glass glitter and not the seam binding ribbon. That beautiful ribbon was used on another card that we will be doing for club this Wednesday. Here is my Baja Breeze card:

The stamp set used for this card was the Easter Blossoms set in the Occasions Mini. The card base is Baja Breeze, of course, stamped with the cherry blossoms in Baja Breeze. Layered on top is a piece of whisper white cut with the Big Shot using the Oval Scallop Frame die. This die cuts two pieces, the centre oval and the scallop frame. Using the Big Shot again, I put the scallop frame in the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. Some sponged Baja Breeze ink on the frame makes the flowers pop. The little girl was stamped with Baja Breeze ink on the centre oval with the sending spring smiles sentiment. Baja Breeze glass glitter was adhered to the edges of the oval using Tombow glue. I love using sticky strip with the glass glitter but this is not really convenient unless you are glittering in a straight line. The centre oval was popped up with dimensionals.

So now it is 6:00 am and I really do feel like I have been on a bender!!! I did manage to get a lot done though - an Easter card and a Bliss scrap page have been my accomplishments in the last few hours. One more project to prepare for club and I'm golden. I seem to be having trouble making things straight so there are some drawbacks to these late night stamping sessions. :)

Baby card, some DE with bling and a pretty favour box

I'm starting to get back into the groove and I believe my mojo may be back!! It's even getting to the point where I'm thinking up projects in my sleep. There have been a couple of nights now where Baja Breeze ribbon and glass glitter have been the main focus of stamping dreams. Am I an addict or what? Addicted, stampin crazy, whatever you want to call it, it does feel good to be back in my stamping space.

I needed a baby card to welcome a new baby girl into my cousin's family. It seems that I may have gotten a little carried away with all of the pink:

That is what happens when you are the only female in the house. This card is done in pretty in pink and whisper white. The stamps used come from a couple of different sets: Valentine defined and A Slice of Life.

My next project involved dressing up my new clear block storage caddy. The case is very plain and industrial looking in my opinion and needed to be prettied up a bit. I had a Decor Elements flower left over from when I decorated my shower curtain (yes - I DE'd my shower curtain with vinyl flowers much to my husband's dismay!!). That poor flower needed just a little something so I added quite a few basic rhinestones. This is the prettiest, blingiest caddy around now:

Finally, I needed a pretty box for a thank you for a new client. I used the Big Shot and the Fancy Favor die to cut out the early espresso card stock. After folding at the score lines to make them more defined, I ran the box through the Big Shot again using the Elegant Lines embossing folder. The top edge of the box was cut using the top portion of the Fancy Favor die to cut a strip from Very Vanilla Patterns Designer Series Paper. This adds a nice touch to the favor box. The flower was punched from strips of First Edition designer series paper that were distressed using the Distressing Essentials kit. I used the large, medium and small scallop circle punches to layer for the flower with an antique brad in the centre.

With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are the hardest type of card to make. It is important to make something tasteful and meaningful, something that expresses what is often hard for us to say. The Thoughts and Prayers set is great for a sympathy card but I always seem to fall back on a retired set, Hope for Comfort. The sentiments in this set are perfect for these sad occasions. Today I made a sympathy card for my friend and co-worker, Donna. The sentiment inside this card says "May the love of God grant you peace, the love of friends bring you comfort and the love of your dear one live forever in your heart." Very fitting. Here is the card I made for Donna:

This card was made using Marina Mist card stock for the base and then sponged around the edges using Night of Navy. The image was stamped using the emboss resist method on glossy paper, brayered with marina mist, baja breeze and night of navy. The scallop circle was cut out of Night of Navy using the large scallop in the Circles #2 die on the Big Shot. A white gel pen gave the scallops some accenting. The butterflies were cut with the Beautiful Wings embosslit out of Night of Navy and vellum. Basic pearls embellished the butterflies.

From making a card for a sad occasion to celebrating the birth of a new life. My next project will be a welcome baby card. I hope to post the baby card tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers are amazing. I spend five minutes in my son's Kindergarten class consisting of 21 children and I am completely overwhelmed. How do they manage everyday when I can barely manage my one? I have always respected and admired the people who take on the monumental task of being a teacher or a childcare provider. As this is Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to let Ty's teachers know how much we appreciate them. Here is the card I created to let them know:

The picture doesn't appear to accurately show that this card is done with the in colour, Concord Crush, as it looks almost navy here and not the deep, rich purple. This is my favourite of the in colours. The card base is embossed with the Framed Tulips embossing folder. The petals are stamped in Concord Crush on Whisper White using the Build a Blossom stamp and punched out with the Blossom Petals Punch. The leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke. The center of the flower is stamped from the set First Day which was in last year's mini. I had to show the inside of the card as well as this uses the FYI set found on page 148 of the big catalogue. I have had this set for quite a while and this is the first time I have used it but it definitely won't be the last. The ... after the FYI was done using the basic rhinestones. Oh how I love my bling!!! This is the first time I have used bling on the inside of a card and I kind of like it. :)

Sadly, my next project will have to be a sympathy card for my friend and co-worker, Donna. Just last week I showed you the Queen for a Day birthday card that I made for Donna and she absolutely loved it. Donna's mother passed away today and I have an idea for a beautiful sympathy card to give to her. I will be using my favourite sympathy set, Thoughts and Prayers. This project will have to wait until tomorrow as my poor eyes are too tired to do a good job tonight.

Whew - ready for Valentine's Day to be over!!

Haha ... it was only a short while ago I was raving about how much I love those Valentine projects. Well, I think I've reached the point of Valentine overload. Here are the two cards we made for Ty to take to the lovely hostesses of the Valentine dance party he went to today:

These were a 3 x 3 card and a 4 x 4 card using real red and whisper white. The heart was stamped with whisper white craft ink using the Sweetheart stamp set and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The punch out was done with the large heart punch which happens to coordinate with the Sweetheart set.

I then realized that a card hadn't been made for my own special Valentine. It was done in a hurry and when you know the recipient isn't very judgmental ... well let's just say I felt it was all about the message and not so much about the presentation!! haha Poor Phil. This card will be attached to a huge box of chocolates so all will be forgiven. :)

This is a swing card using scallop circles cut with the big shot. I love how the layer behind the heart somewhat resembles the read out on a heart monitor. This layer and the small heart used the red glitter paper and were cut using the tasteful trim die with the big shot and the small heart punch.

So that is definitely it for all the Valentine projects this year. Next will be some special cards to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week this week. Ty's wonderful teachers will be getting these on Wednesday once the craziness of the Valentine celebrations are over. Check back for my next post on this project.

What - no bling??

I can't believe I created a card with absolutely no bling on it!!! Must be slipping a little bit.

I may have already mentioned how much I love the Valentine Defined set but I will say it again - "I LOVE IT". Though it may appear to be valentine specific, I can see this set being used for wedding and anniversary cards. My sister-in-law has a wedding anniversary next week so I better put this set to work again and hopefully post a pic of the anniversary card.

This is another sneak peak of tomorrow night's club project. The easel card is a fun and unique way of displaying a lovely card. The card base is 4 1/4 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8 to create the easel part of the card. The heart stems are stamped in real read and then again with whisper white craft ink. The heart vines are stamped in whisper white craft as well. Circles #2 die was used for the scallop circle. The inside layer of the card had the love you sentiment popped up to support the easel. This might have to be my last Valentine's Day project as the big day is on Monday.

Oh .. to be Queen for a day ...

I'm never very organized, no matter how much I am determined to be!! Stamp club is only two nights away and I am only partly prepared. It seems that I have been in a creative funk and have become lazy to the point where I'm cruising the blogs looking for projects to case. Time to put my thinking cap on and come up with my own creations! In addition to having to prepare for club, I have several birthdays coming up that required special cards. Here is the one I created for my co-worker, Donna: (spoiler alert for my club ladies - we are doing this card on Wednesday!)

Donna is a wonderful lady and very much deserving of being a Queen for the day, if not all year round. This card uses basic black card stock for the base and Pacific Point for the layer. The PP is run through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. The Vintage Wallpaper folder is one of my absolute favourites and I use it quite often. Of course, the Queen deserves some bling so I spritzed the Pacific Point layer with a shimmer mist made from the frost white shimmer paint and rubbing alcohol. Just love that shimmer! The flower was punched from strips of First Edition DSP that had been crumbled, distressed with the tea stain and azure blue inks in the distressing kit and then punched out with the scallop circle punch. A clear rhinestone in the centre of the flower added another little touch of bling. The stamp used was from the You're a Gem set on page 25 of the Occasions Mini. This was punched out with the small oval punch and layered on basic black punched out using the Decorative Label punch. I'm so sad that this punch has been temporarily back ordered. Hopefully that will be rectified soon. A little more bling with the basic rhinestones and then finally, a trinket crown from the set of three Trinket Crowns found on page 24 of the Occasions mini. What a nice touch the crown is for the Queen. haha

Hopefully my club ladies won't mind a sneak peek of one of our projects. The remaining projects will be posted after club. Until then, take care.

Totally CASE'd Fancy Fold Valentine card

I told you how much I love Valentine's Day projects right? So now I need to show you what card made me fall in love with the Valentine Defined stamp set in the Occasions Mini.

This was CASE'd from Emma Fewkes and I changed my version just a little bit. Check out Emma's version on her great blog: http://ladynthestamp.blogspot.com. Thank you Emma for sharing such a great project. To tell you a little bit about the card, the base is whisper white, ink is real red and the hearts are punched out of the red glitter paper with the large and small heart punches. Love that glitter paper!! The Valentine Defined stamp set can be found on Page 9 of the Occasions Mini. The bendy folds are made using tabs and slits in the card. Really cool!

I love Valentine's Day projects!!

There is something about all of the great product that Stampin' Up! has that makes Valentine's Day projects a whole lot of fun. I had told myself that I didn't need anything new for making projects for the upcoming occasion but one look at the new Occasions mini and I was a goner. There are so many beautiful projects using Valentine Defined (page 9 of the mini) and I fell in love and had to have it. And, for those of you who know me, you know my love of luminaires. What would Valentine's be without the soft glow of a battery operated tea light shining from a pretty Valentine luminaire?? Unfortunately, I had a terrible time getting a good picture of this project so this is the best I could come up with. (time for a new camera!!)

I was excited to make this project as it uses the Fancy Favour box die which I finally got around to ordering. Why, oh why did I wait so long?? This is going to be my new favourite go to die and I can see using it a lot. The heart stems stamp is from the Valentine Defined stamp set and the heart is punched out of the lovely red glitter paper with the large heart punch. Vellum on these luminaires adds such a nice, soft, romantic look. The trim on the top of the box is cut from the Love Patterns DSP using just the top portion of the die. Cool effect!! Once again, I am sorry for the poor picture quality.

Off to get some housework done and then I can work on some more projects. Take care.

A new year of blogging ...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Now that the holiday season is over, it's time to get back into the swing of things in my craft room. I was seriously lacking motivation and enthusiasm after taking a small break so it is a good thing I have a commitment to my lovely club ladies to provide projects for our monthly club. If it wasn't for having to prep for club, I would probably still be in a funk!! These pictures are the projects we did this month. I had to expand my comfort zone and do a scrap page. I will freely admit that I am intimidated by scrapping so this club will benefit me in a big way as it will force me to overcome my fears!!! hehe Sounds like scrapping is sooo scary but for some reason having more space to fill seems too much for me. Thankfully I was able to CASE this layout from SU's November Stampin' Success. A scrap page is definitely a personal thing so it was nice to see how everyone tweaked their pages to suite their own tastes. We also made a gate fold card using the stamp set and paper from the Loads of Love promo. We also used the beautiful red glitter paper which was punched out with the small heart punch. The third card was made using the Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petals punch from the Occasions mini which just came into effect on January 4th. This mini is incredible and there are so many wonderful new products and, of course, I have to have everything. Keep checking in to see samples of projects made with these new products. I am anxiously awaiting my next order so that I can show you more!!! Okay, I'm an addict!! Take care.

December Blog (late!)

Well, I'm even late with my once a month blog. But December 27th still qualifies for a December entry!! Needless to say, things were busier than usual in the month of December between attending craft sales and preparing for Christmas. I didn't get much done in the way of baking this year but my shopping was started in November and finally completed the week before Christmas, or so I thought. Turns out I should not let myself go in the stores once I think I'm done shopping as I still tend to shop. Let's just say a little boy in our house did get somewhat spoiled this year. Can't help myself, I love him!! In addition to Christmas shopping and craft sales, there was some Christmas crafting as well. The pictures show some of the projects that we did in stamp club. The wine glass luminaire is so easy and so very pretty. The shade was cut out of vellum using a template and stamped in olive stazon. Add the pretty pearls, a wineglass and a battery operated tea light and you have a lovely luminaire. The Christmas tree luminaire was one that I put together and decided not to use in class as it takes a little while to get all the steps done. Cute project though. The cards were all made using stamps from the holiday mini and some of my favourite color combinations. The tag is made from my favourite Christmas stamp - Dasher and my new favourite bling - glass glitter. These tags were used on my gifts to my club ladies and my coworkers. All of these projects have been CASED from other sources and I cannot take any credit for creating anything original here. I thank the various sources for their inspiration.

There are some exciting events coming up soon. The new Occasions mini comes into effect January 4th and Sale-A-Bration starts towards the end of January. Check out my Stampin' Up! website for additional information. My next posts will include samples from these new catalogues; maybe even something pertaining to Valentine's Day!

I have accepted the fact that this is going to be a monthly blog!! I have been keeping busy completing projects for upcoming craft sales. The picture frames were purchased at Michaels and altered using Stampin' Up! Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, Deck the Halls big buttons and the Big Shot and Tasteful Trim die. The wine boxes were purchased at Dollarama, painted with acrylic paint and decorated with flowers cut by the Big Shot using the flower fusion die.

This is turning into a once a month blog!!

Are you starting to see a pattern?? Bad, bad blogger again. It's been incredibly busy, yada, yada, yada. Guess this is the way it's always going to be so I just have to learn to enjoy it!! I really am enjoying it actually. Our monthly stamp club officially kicked off on October 13th and I think we have a great group of ladies. Saturday was the Mommy & Me Trick or Treat Class. I was quite excited about the Build-a-bear luminaire. We used a brown lunch bag with the top ripped using the tearing edge. Our BAB was dressed in a pumpkin made from three 1 3/4" punched circles, the bats were punched from the new bat punch and the ghost is the owl from the owl punch turned upside down and minus his feet. I liked this project so much, I had my club ladies make it too. They didn't seem to mind so I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. The kids also made a cute Halloween card from the Beary Best Friends stamp set and the coordinating Season of Hugs stamp set. The other project was a spider using the sweet treat cups with legs punched with the photo corner punch. I don't have a picture of this to post as my version was quite sad. Needless to say, the kids projects turned out much better!

What can I say ... life gets crazy sometimes

Once again my poor blog has been neglected. It has been a little crazy around here lately with my little guy starting school and a few other changes I won't go into here. So not only does the blog suffer but there isn't much crafting going on either. I tried to make up for that today and thought I would post some projects I completed recently. The altered canvas was painted months ago and then set aside. When I had seen the Decor Elements Thoughts and Prayers tree, I had a pretty good idea that I wanted to affix it to canvas. I was a little concerned about how the Decor Elements vinyl would adhere to canvas but all it took was having something firm placed in behind the canvas in order to rub on the tree. Having been a Reader's Digest subscriber for many, many years, I was tickled to find the awesome quote that worked perfectly with this tree. Since I couldn't paint or print the words on the canvas as I'm not very neat (always write at a slant), I turned to My Digital Studio. The quote was printed from MDS using digital background paper, digital punches, digital stamps and adding the text. The MDS print out was layered on Chocolate Chip cardstock and popped up on the canvas with the chocolate chip ribbon behind. I love it!!! It will look better once I get around to having it framed.

Another completed project was a sympathy card using the Thoughts and Prayers set. The card base uses Close to Cocoa cardstock (retired), layered with Very Vanilla cardstock. The vanilla cardstock was cut using the Big Shot and the Top Note Die. The tree from the Thoughts and Prayers set was colored using SU More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Close to Cocoa markers. A few dots of glue with a fine glue pen and a sprinkle of dazzling diamonds to add just a hint of sparkle. The sentiment was punched using the scalloped oval and large oval punches and popped up with dimensionals. A small piece of chocolate chip taffeta ribbon and a small pearl completed the front of the card.

Another sympathy card has almost been completed. My eyes were too tired so I thought it would be best to finish it off tomorrow. Everything would end up crooked if I tried to finish it tonight. I will post pics of the other card tomorrow.

Along with all of the drama and goings on of my life, it was exciting to receive my last order that contained some more Decor Elements. Our breezeway will be receiving a fresh coat of paint and then I can affix my new DE Many Welcomes Sign. The stamping space will also get a little DE as I have the Curly Sign (x2) and Simple Sign to put up. These signs will be used to display calendars and upcoming events for my club and class attendees to see everything at a glance. Don't worry - I will be posting pictures as soon as the project is done. :)

I am so excited to have a new Stamp Club starting this fall. This is a terrific opportunity for anyone interested in paper crafting, no matter whether they are a beginner or advanced stamper. Joining a club provides you with an opportunity to learn new techniques and try out new products as well as spending time with other crafters. Didn't blow away!!

Well, I survived another windy Saturday at the local Farmer's Market. I am very grateful that it wasn't raining in addition to being windy. Despite the weather, it was another great day and I met some really nice people who I hope will be interested in joining the new Stamp Club starting in the fall. These are two of the projects I had prepared for the Market. Both the card and the dry erase board used stamps from the Artistic Etchings stamp set. The dry erase board was also altered using the Newsprint Designer Series Paper, some nice chunky glitter on the chipboard and a special technique on the pictures. The stamped images was covered in glassy glaze enamel and heated with the heat gun. This step was repeated two more times and then the images were placed in the freezer to set the glaze. Once the images had cooled, I carefully cracked them and sponged with more ink to give an aged look. This is called the cracked glass technique. Vintage is really in these days and I happen to be loving it. What really tickled me about the dry erase board project was the reference to the City of Paris on the Newsprint DSP that went so well with my stamped image. I find joy in the simplest things!!!

Well, it is getting to be that time of year - school starts, the leaves start to change color and the temperature gets a little cooler. Stay tuned for some projects relating to this changing season. I really want to do a scrapbook layout for my son's first day of school. I will also be preparing and posting the projects I intend to offer in my Mommy & Me Trick or Treat Class. Take care.

Christmas in August?

It has been fairly cool this weekend in our little corner of SE Saskatchewan. Could this by why I had such an urge to create Christmas cards this weekend? Or could it be that I absolutely love the new Holiday mini that will be available September 1st and I had to play with some of my new goodies that finally arrived on Friday? One of my favourite things about being a demo is the ability to have sneak peeks and preorders from new catalogues and minis. One of the cards I made used the stamp set Angelic Joy. The materials used for this card are:

Stamp set: Angelic Joy
Accessories: water color paper, ticket corner punch, the new XL Decorative Label punch and new Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die for the Big Shot, pearls.
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, Artichoke, Very Vanilla

I am absolutely in love with the Deck the Halls DSP and plan on ordering more soon. The new Decorative Label punch is also going to be one of my main go to punches, as well as the Tasteful Trim die for the Big Shot. There are so many options on this new die and I know I will get a lot of use out of it. The lovely angel was stamped on water color paper and water colored in with a blender pen and artichoke and crumb cake ink. I have another project in mind for this beautiful
stamp; one that will suit the style of this stamp to perfection. Stay tuned for upcoming pics.

My second card is a little less formal and uses one of the stamps from the Tags til Christmas set. This is a nine piece stamp set that coordinates with so many of the Stampin' Up! punches. The materials used in this card are:

Stamp Set: Tags til Christmas and Christmas Greetings
Paper: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Deck the Halls DSP and Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Trim Corner and Scallop Edge Border punches, XL Decorative Label punch, Big Designer Buttons and linen thread.

These buttons are definitely big. In fact, the button used on this card is the smallest size in the pack. These colors coordinate beautifully with the colors in the Deck the Hall Designer Series Paper.

Change of blog name

This is almost too much for someone who is technically handicapped like me - I had to change my blog name!!! The original name was very similar to another Canadian demo who is very well known and a demo goddess in my eyes. So now my blog name is Sunnyone Stampin'. It is so hard to come up with a name, especially one using sun in it!! There are a lot of sunny stampers out there. I hope that I have done everything correctly. Thanks for your patience. Embossed Thank you card

Hello. Just wanted to show you the embossed thank you card I made for a customer. The embossed circle was done using the circle scissor plus. Instead of using the cutting blade, I used the drawing attachment. The versamark pen was used to draw the circle, then I switched attachments and cut the circle out. Gold embossing powder was applied to the versamark and cooked with a heat gun. The beautiful hydrangea is from the Because I Care hostess level 1 set. The card base and ink used is Soft Suede, one of my favourite colours. Soft Suede and Very Vanilla work very well together so that was the colour used for the layers. Hope you like it!! The flowers and butterfly are chipboard that are sponged with ink and/or covered with designer specialty paper. The small flower has a magnet in the center for the magnetic dry erase pen. The board that I personalized had the name cut using the Big Shot and the Billboard decorative strip die. So much fun to make!! The designer specialty paper is retired and works really well with the chocolate ribbon I found on the Stampin' Up! clearance rack quite a while ago. I really must check out the clearance rack again to see what great deals are on there lately. Let me know if you need any help altering your own dry erase board or if you would be interested in attending a class.

Back home after a busy weekend away for a family wedding. Thought I better post something so here is an altered dry erase board I had done recently. I did one that was personalized for my cousin's little girl as a birthday gift. These are so fun to work on so they might be a good idea for a class project.

I may have figured out how to resize my photos in order to upload. Here is a picture of my stamping space which has recently been revamped. Poor hubby lost his pool table and had to haul some big, heavy pieces of furniture down to the basement in order to make my space better for my stamping and for hosting classes/workshops. Here goes!!!

I'm really bad at keeping my blog up-to-date!! It will probably take a little bit of practice but I am determined to make this work!!! In addition to this blog, I also have my Stampin' Up! blog on my SU website to maintain. Not doing a very good job at either one, ha ha. There have been several new projects on my stamping table but I haven't taken pictures of anything before I gift it or sell it at the Market. Once I take some pictures, this blog should get more interesting, I hope. Keep checking up on me to make sure I get with the program.

Memorial Candle

I had a special order request for a stamped memorial candle. I just recently met a young couple who are getting married this week. The memorial candle is in honour of the groom's deceased father. The candle turned out wonderfully and the couple seemed pleased with it. It did not seem appropriate to post a picture of the candle but I just had to say how great it felt to be able to do something that held special meaning for someone else. I love stampin!!
