All Occasion Card Class Part 2

Continuing on with the projects from my last card class.    The ladies were busy!!

I'm not really happy with how the colours look in this pic.    The card base is lucky limeade which is my new favourite green.   I love the Tea for Two DSP!!

This sympathy card was totally CASE'd from the big catalogue.    Simple but beautiful!

This card has a different format.   A single piece of card stock measuring 4" x 5 1/2" is wrapped with a 3" x 12" piece of card stock.   A seam binding ribbon is used to tie the card closed.

All Occasion Card Class

I held two card classes last week and thoroughly enjoyed stamping with some wonderful ladies.    My favourite part of my job as a Stampin' Up! Demo is spending quality stamping time with others who enjoy crafting too.   For the All Occasion Card Class, we completed six cards.   The ladies did a fabulous job.   I will post three of the projects today and the remaining three will be posted on Sunday.   Here we go ...

This card was a partial CASE from Jessica Woitas.   I found her card on our SU demo site, Stampin' Connection, but do not have a link to her blog.   Thank you Jessica.    I absolutely love the new Designer Builder Brads!!

A clean and simple card!!   This was a total and complete CASE from "sarsam" which I found on Splitcoaststampers.   Once again, I do not have a link to a blog.   Thank you so much for the inspiration sarsam.  It may be difficult to tell from this picture but there are two scored lines under Happy Birthday.   It adds a nice touch when you are limited on how you can embellish a masculine card.

February Card Club projects

I had a lovely time with my club ladies this month.   We were especially excited to have Trina join us again.   Can't wait to see her more often!

Most of the cards we did in Club were partially CASE'd cards.    I am so grateful for the demos that share their beautiful creations and give the rest of us inspiration.   Here are the projects we worked on:

Oh, Hello!

Mommy & Me Valentine Class Feb/13

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of putting on a Mommy & Me Valentine Class.   I always enjoy classes with the kids.   We have fun making crafts, visiting and some good snacks.    Here are the projects we worked on during this class:

These cute little guys were inspired by this blog.    For our owls we used the retired pillow box die for the body, large heart punch for the face and feet and an ornament framelit was used to make the wings.   This treat hold can hold two of the Hershey minis.

Our group made a fridge magnet using soda pop tops, first edition DSP and a heart punched from glimmer paper using the small heart punch.    A rhinestone added some bling.    Crystal Effects covers everything and is left to dry.    Glue a magnet on the back and you have a pretty fridge magnet.    The butterfly soda pop top was done as an example of some other images you can use.

Everybody knows and loves the Angry Birds.    This card was CASE'd from this blog.    Lots of punching to create this card and we used the chalkboard technique for our sentiment.   Cute!!

Finally, the moms got to make their card for their special Valentine:

Early Espresso and Crumb Cake for a masculine valentine card.    The Early Espresso core-dination paper is embossed with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder and sanded to go with the vintage look.

Another club project and more!

Hello everyone!   This blog post might be a little long as I am behind on my posting and have a lot of projects I want to share with you.   So without further ado ...

This is my most recent project and I am super excited about it.    I had posted another version of these cocoa packets in a November post which you can find HERE.   The Christmas cocoa packets were one of our November Club projects.   Credit goes to Dawn Olchefske for the idea.    It occurred to me that these would also work for a Valentine project as February can be darn cold and a nice cup of cocoa is always good.    So with a little bit of modification, we now have Valentine cocoa packets!!   These were a popular item at my last trade/craft show and I hope they will be again at my next show on Sunday.

I can't remember what this technique is called!!   If anyone knows, please drop a comment.   I haven't made a card with this technique in forever so thought it was time to do it again.   The brad in the centre of the flower acts as the hinge for the top part of the card.   Cute!!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad January Blog Hop

The new Pool Party embossing powder was what encouraged me to go with this colour combination. And for a girl that loves bling, the new large rhinestone basic jewels made me very happy!

Happy New Year!! Welcome 2013!!

So another year has come and gone.    Wow - December flew by in a flash.   We were talking today about taking the tree down on the weekend.   It seems like we just put it up!!   I always find it a little depressing after the tree and the decorations come down.   Everything looks so empty and blah!    I especially like all of the twinkly lights at Christmas.    I'm pretty sure my husband won't let me keep them up all year round.  :(

December was also typical in that I didn't do a lot of blogging.   Blogging tends to go to the back burner when there is so much that needs to be done to prepare for Christmas.   It is also a busy time of year with craft sales and now I am managing our local farmers' market so that took up a fair bit of time.    Now I get a break until spring so I better get my butt in gear and start crafting up a storm for the next round of craft sales and markets.   

A peek at my memory card for my camera showed up some crafts that I never did blog about.   Here are a few items I may have missed:

This card has a crumb cake card base and a layer of the Natural Composition Specialty paper.   This paper has a glossy, raised pattern on a heavy-weight natural paper.   The patterns are quite pretty and can be sponged to give a pop of colour.   A crumb cake ribbon and some basic pearls give a little bit of a delicate touch to this card.

 This cute card was CASE'd from Shannon Lane.   You can check out her blog here.    I love using that owl punch in such cute ways.

This card was CASE'd from Kimberly Van Diepen, one of my all time favourite demos.   You can find all kinds of inspirational projects on her website, Stampin By The Sea.   This card uses one of my favourite stamp sets, Thoughts and Prayers.   I was so excited at how pretty the cherry cobbler dazzling details looked on the tree.   It added just a nice little touch of bling!

Finally, this was my favourite Christmas ornament to make in 2012.   I saw so many of these on various blogs and I'm sorry to say that I can't remember where I CASE'd this particular version from.    I always try to give credit so if this looks like it might have been your idea, please let me know and I will update to give you credit.   This little guy has a battery operated tea light for his face!   It looks so cute all lit up.   I coloured the nose with an orange sharpie and the eyes, mouth and buttons are pearls coloured with a black sharpie.  The rest of him is all created from punches.    Love it!!

So I think that should be all of the projects I may have missed.    I'm excited to sit down and start playing with all of my new stuff from the upcoming spring catalogue which comes into effect on January 3rd.   First I need to figure out what items I absolutely have to have from the holiday catalogue as January 2nd is the last day to order from it.    Some items from the holiday catalogue are carried over and can be found on page 36 of the spring catalogue.   I will post some new projects soon - I hope!     Thanks for stopping by!

December club projects

My poor blog certainly does suffer every December.   There is just so much going on.   I even opted out of the Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop as it would have been one more thing stressing me out!   Fortunately I still have Club projects to prepare and post on.    Here are the projects we worked on this month:

This first project is a 6 x 6 card using a pacific point card base.    A thick window sheet is stamped with snowflakes using white stazon and attached to the card front at the top with sticky strip.   The ribbon covers up the sticky strip.      So cute!

Some Christmas cards

Smack dab in the middle of Christmas craft sales.    I'm struggling to keep up my card supply.  This post is about some of the cards I've made up.

I wanted to use tulle on a card and I'm very happy with how it looks.   The inside layer of DSP is retired.  The vintage faceted buttons definitely add a nice touch to the vintage looking card.

November Stamp Club projects

It has been a terrible month for colds and flu around here.    Many of my club ladies have been affected, either they or their children are sick.    We had just a small group last night but we had a good time.  All three of our projects were CASE'd from someone.   Thank goodness there are creative people out there willing to share their amazing talent.

Our first project will make a nice little gift for maybe a teacher, bus driver, etc.

I found a great video by Dawn Olchefske showing how to make this cute project.   Check out her blog here for the great tutorial.    Walmart has a new variety pack of cocoa packets.   You can get cocoa flavoured like coffee crisp, rolo or after eight.   Yum!   The Scentsational Season bundle is getting a lot of use in my Christmas projects this year.   Love it!

Inside card

This is another CASE'd project, this time from Kay Kalthoff.    I found Kay's video tutorial on our demo site, Stampin' Connection.   This is a great project that uses the Festival of Prints DSP Stack.   Kay's video shows the perfect way to utilize a whole piece of the patterned paper with very minimal waste.  After trimming the patterned piece for your card front, you can use the excess on the inside of the card and the envelope.   The tree cut out using the framelits is also used inside the card.    Love it!

This was a partial CASE from Rochelle Blok from one of our demo FB pages.    I love making these tulle rosettes and using the jumbo rounds makes it so much easier than fighting with my hot glue gun.  The core-dinations paper with the rosette gives the card a nice vintage look.

Stylin' Stampin' Squad November Blog Hop

Our theme this month is Thanksgiving/thankful.   We celebrate Thanksgiving in October in Canada so I have already been focused on Christmas for a while.   It was kind of nice to come up with a card that focused on being grateful again:

I had used the Full of Blessings set a number of times last month but this time I had a new stamp set to use with it - the Pursuit of Happiness set.   This saying was perfect and the inside of the card has a simple thank you.

My 3D project meets our challenge this month:  create a "hostess thank-you gift".   The hostess thank-you gift did not have to be Thanksgiving related so naturally I focused on Christmas:

I have found a new favourite embellishment - a paper faux bow!   I came across a video tutorial by Connie  Collins on our demo site, Stampin Connection.   Connie did a fabulous job with her tutorial.   Thank you so much for sharing Connie.   For this project I created a gift box with coordinating cards and envelopes inside.    This will make a perfect hostess gift just in time for Christmas gift giving.

Shout out to Erin!

Recently a member of my demo team received a Stampin' Up! promotion and had her one year anniversary as a Stampin' Up!  Independent Demonstrator.    Congratulations on both accomplishments Erin!    I popped a card in the mail to thank Erin for doing such a great job.   Here is a pic:

I apologize for the poor quality of the photo.   Apparently a dying battery doesn't make for good pictures.  Who knew?  :p    I have seen samples of cards using the cut out portion of the apothecary accents framelit as a frame.    It just so happens that the image from Just Believe fits perfectly within the frame.   A little embossing with the fancy fan folder adds some pretty detail to the frame layer.    I absolutely love the stitched ribbon in the new in colours.   I used a faux bow here so it would lay flatter for mailing.   Hopefully the tiny pearls get through the mail okay too!

I know I've said before how much I love being a Stampin' Up! demo but it is true.   As a demo you have the freedom to determine if you want to be a business demo or a hobby demo.    I have both types of demos on my team and regardless of what type they are, I want to support and encourage them as much as possible.   There are great opportunities and incentives for being a demonstrator but the best part is being able to share the love of crafting with others.     Keep up the good work Erin!!

Christmas Ornament

Many of you have seen the beautiful ornament that graces our holiday catalogue cover.     Like many who admired the ornament, I decided I wanted to make it.    Then I found the instructions and shook my head, saying hmmmm no way!    Stampin' Up! has used the Ornament Keepsakes set and coordinating framelits to create this beauty.  The fact that each completed ornament requires 40 separate ornaments stamped and cut with the framelits had me quickly changing my mind.   But then I thought I better at least give it a try and am I ever glad I did!!

Here is my finished ornament (slightly different from the catty cover):

I was so thankful to come across an awesome tutorial for making this.   Dani Dziama posted such an easy to follow tutorial on her blog, complete with many step-by-step pictures, that it was incredibly easy to put this all together.   Please check out her blog here and give her many thanks for being so thorough and concise.      Thank you Dani!

Now I will admit that the stamping and cutting of these ornaments is the most time consuming and tedious part.    It would work well if you could have your strips cut so that you can run two different ornament framelits through the big shot at the same time.    I had suggested this to some of my customers but forgot to do it myself!   One of my ladies found it easier to cut the ornaments and then stamp them.   Try it either way and do what works best for you.   It would also be easier to just cut your favourite DSP with the ornament framelits instead of stamping.   I used real red ink for the ornaments and real red card stock for the rosette but will definitely use cherry cobbler if I do this again.   I now have the new cherry cobbler ink pad and will be able to get a nice crisp image of my ornament and then I will match the tulle better.   Have I ever mentioned how these new ink pads are all that??   They stamp soooo beautifully.   The tulle is also so pretty and easy to work with.   I would definitely recommend giving this ornament a try.   Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Happy Halloween/Happy Birthday!

It's finally here ... the day my son has been waiting for FOREVER!!    Once the excitement of Halloween is over, he will be pestering us to put up the Christmas decorations and the count down will begin again.    The Christmas wish list was started weeks ago and is based on whatever happens to be in an awesome tv commercial.    Santa is going to have his work cut out for him this year.  

Enough about Christmas ... let's celebrate Halloween.    Creating Halloween projects is one of my favourite crafts so I'm sad this will be my last one this year.    A friend of ours also happens to be the EA in my son's class this year.    She had mentioned to my son earlier this month that she would like a Halloween craft from me.    As the month flew by and I was behind as usual, I didn't get one done for her.   As luck would have it,  her birthday is also on Halloween so I created this Halloween/birthday card for her hoping it would suffice as a Halloween craft:

Happy Birthday Carol!!

I love punch art pumpkins and the sponging makes such a difference.   My little peek-a-boo ghost is punched out with the owl punch and has googly eyes.   The fence is actually cut using the rosette die.   Pretty handy!!

Mommy & Me Halloween Class Projects

I love creating projects for Halloween and the Mommy & Me Halloween classes are the most popular of the occasion classes.   This must mean that everyone else likes Halloween crafting too!    Here are the projects we worked on this year:

My favourite project!   This treat box/decoration is made by taking a fancy fold box and placing Franky on one side and .....

Dracula on the other!   The top note die serves as a perfect frame for our scary monster faces.   Circle punches are used for the eyes and nose.   Love it!

SUPPLIES:

Paper:   Frank - basic black, lucky limeade, whisper white; Dracula - basic black, 

elegant eggplant, whisper white

Ink:  lucky limeade, elegant eggplant, real red and basic black markers, white gel pen

Stamps - none

Accessories:   big shot, fancy favour box, top note die, circle punches, pennant punch

 Next we made a card using an unexpected ingredient:
